Modular house construction – “media agua modular”

"media agua modular”, that is how we named our house construction, because compared to the “traditional” emergency accommodation, mainly placed from the government, our construction stands out due to the modular construction to the simple expandability.

Our goal was, to concept a emergency accommodation with the following characteristics:

• Use of traditional material
• Simple, modular construction, which offers a fast construction and which can be expanded easily at any time
• If available, possibility to re-use of floor, windows and doors
• High stability
• Weatherproof and good insulation property
• Low price

The construction is based on impregnated wood-poles and a wall covering with OSB-boards (15 mm), which offer a very good stability and insulating characteristic. All OSB-boards are screwed and not rattled, so they can be unbolt easily and reused without damage for the material, f.e. by upgrading the house.

Within our relief project, we constructed successfully 8 “media aguas modulares” of different size (adjusted to the size of the families). At the beginning of the construction, the families were partially doubtfully, but after finishing the construction all were very enthusiastic. Now, we have finished our building activity, but we would like to use the opportunity, to pass our experiences in form of a PDF-documentation. The documentation includes pictures of the different building phases, design drawings as well as a list of needed material. It would give us great pleasure, to help indirectly in this way to one or the other family.
